Competition Board approves sale of BluTV to Warner Bros!
The Competition Board has authorized the acquisition of shares in Blutv İletişim ve Dijital Yayın Hizmetleri A.Ş by Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc., through Discovery Medya Hizmetleri Ltd. Şti.
Having acquired a portion of BluTV's shares last year, Warner Bros purchased the entirety of BluTV before the year ended. The agreement was signed on December 6.
According to the report by Haber Global; Warner Bros is the owner of HBO, a machine for producing major hit productions. HBO is known for hit productions such as Succession, The Wire, and Game Of Thrones.
HBO, which announced that it would begin broadcasting in Turkey in 2022, abandoned this plan after a while. HBO productions were first uploaded to BluTV and then to Amazon Prime.
Reaching out regarding their plans for Turkey, Claudia Coles, Vice President of Corporate Communications for the WarnerMedia EMEA region, had told haberglobal.com.tr that they had no plans regarding Turkey and were focusing on the existing market in Europe.
