Competition Board launches investigation into famous chip brand!

According to the announcement on the Competition Authority's website, the preliminary investigation conducted into allegations that Frito Lay Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ violated the Law on the Protection of Competition by hindering the activities of its competitors at retail points of sale has been concluded by the Competition Board.

Within the framework of the information and documents obtained during the preliminary investigation and the examinations conducted, the Board found the findings to be serious and sufficient, and decided to launch an investigation into Frito Lay.

During the examinations conducted in the preliminary investigation period, the Board obtained numerous pieces of evidence raising suspicions that the company was attempting to establish exclusivity by hindering the activities of its competitors in the packaged chip market at final points of sale in the traditional channel in almost every region of Turkey.

On the other hand, Frito Lay operates in the chip market in Turkey with the Lays, Ruffles, Doritos, Cheetos, and Çerezza brands, and in the confectionery market with the Rocco brand.

The investigation decisions taken by the Board do not mean that the undertakings or associations of undertakings against which an investigation has been initiated have violated the Law and that they are facing or will face sanctions.
