Compliance period extended for certain special hygiene rules regarding raw milk processing

The "Regulation on Amending the Regulation on Special Hygiene Rules for Animal Foods," prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

Accordingly, the compliance period for certain special hygiene rules previously determined for milk processing facilities regarding the processing of raw milk has been extended to December 31, 2028.

On the other hand, the "Regulation on Amending the Regulation on Animal By-Products Not Intended for Human Consumption," also prepared by the Ministry, has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

The regulation in question determines the procedures and principles regarding health rules for animal by-products and their derived products that are not offered for human consumption, with the aim of preventing or minimizing risks to public and animal health, as well as food and feed safety.

With the amendment made to the regulation, the effective date of the provision regarding animals suspected of having Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies, animals confirmed to have the disease, or animals culled for the purpose of eradicating the disease, as well as materials identified for monitoring the disease within the scope of the "Regulation on Protection and Control Against Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies," has been postponed to December 31, 2028.
