Credit card interest rates to drop starting October 1
With the regulation effective from October 1, the interest rate on credit card transactions will be reduced from 4.75 percent to 4.50 percent.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) has made changes to credit card interest rates, with the new rates set to take effect on October 1, 2025. This regulation was announced via a communiqué published in the Official Gazette on September 18.
With the change, the contractual interest rate applied to credit card transactions will be reduced from 4.75 percent to 4.50 percent. Additionally, the late payment interest rate will be lowered from 5.05 percent to 4.80 percent. This step aims to ease the interest burden for credit card users.
