Critical decision from Borsa İstanbul for 4 stocks: Trading restrictions imposed
Borsa İstanbul has made a new decision under the Volatility Based Measures System (VBTS) for the shares of four companies due to high volatility in price movements. In line with the measure, short selling and margin trading will not be permitted for the relevant shares for approximately one month.
Borsa İstanbul has announced that temporary trading restrictions will be applied to the shares of four companies under the Volatility Based Measures System (VBTS). The decision was published on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
WHICH STOCKS ARE SUBJECT TO THE MEASURES?
According to the statement on KAP, short selling and margin trading will not be permitted for Koray GYO (KGYO.E), Pasifik Eurasia (PASEU.E), Marka Yatırım Holding (MARKA.E), and Safkar Ege Soğutma (SAFKR.E) shares from July 8, 2026, until the end of the session on August 7, 2026.
REASON FOR THE DECISION IS PRICE VOLATILITY
Borsa İstanbul stated that this practice was implemented within the framework of the Volatility Based Measures System, which was put into effect under Capital Markets Board regulations. It was stated that the measure aims to support healthy market functioning for stocks experiencing unusual price movements.
TO BE APPLIED INDEPENDENTLY OF EXISTING MARKET RULES
The statement emphasized that the restrictions introduced under VBTS will be applied independently of the existing trading rules of the market where the relevant stocks are traded. The measures will remain in effect without interruption throughout the specified period.
BIST 50 PRACTICE CONTINUES FOR SHORT SELLING
On the other hand, in line with the Capital Markets Board's decision dated December 5, 2024, short selling transactions on Borsa İstanbul can only be carried out for shares included in the BIST 50 index. Therefore, the VBTS decision regarding these stocks serves as a temporary measure applied in addition to existing regulations.
