Critical minimum wage statement from Vedat Işıkhan

Critical minimum wage statement from Vedat Işıkhan

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan made evaluations regarding the minimum wage. Stating that the process will be carried out within the framework of social dialogue, Minister Işıkhan said, "Every process will proceed as required by social dialogue. We will definitely consult with the unions."

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which has begun its work to determine the minimum wage figure that will be valid in 2026, has completed its first meeting. However, no agreement on any figure was reached at this meeting.

The first meeting for the new minimum wage, which directly concerns approximately 7 million employees and indirectly the entire society, was held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Commission members representing the worker, employer, and government sides attended the meeting.

SECOND MEETING DATE ANNOUNCED

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its second meeting on Thursday, December 18.

CURRENT MINIMUM WAGE IS 22 THOUSAND 104 LIRA

The currently effective minimum wage is applied as a monthly gross of 26 thousand 5 lira and 50 kuruş. After tax and premium deductions, the net minimum wage is at the level of 22 thousand 104 lira and 67 kuruş.

The total cost of the minimum wage to the employer for one worker amounts to 30 thousand 621 lira and 48 kuruş. Of this amount, 26 thousand 5 lira and 50 kuruş consists of the gross wage, 4 thousand 95 lira and 87 kuruş of the social security premium, and 520 lira and 11 kuruş of the employer's unemployment insurance fund share.
