Critical week for civil servant salary hikes: Arbitration Board meets again
Millions of civil servants and retired civil servants have their eyes on the Public Officials Arbitration Board. The third meeting has begun. A final decision is expected to be announced within this week.
As no agreement could be reached on salary hikes during the 8th Term Public Collective Bargaining negotiations, the process was moved to the Public Officials Arbitration Board. The board, which stepped in upon the application of the Public Employer Delegation, will finalize the salary increase rates for civil servants within this week.
THIRD MEETING HAS BEGUN
The board held its third meeting today at 10:00 AM under the chairmanship of Court of Accounts President Metin Yener. The second meeting held yesterday lasted approximately one and a half hours; during this session, confederation representatives explained their demands with justifications, while the public employer side presented their objections and evaluations.
DECISION WILL BE BINDING
The Arbitration Board, consisting of 11 members, is composed of public representatives, academics, and union representatives. As required by the legal process, the board must announce its decision within 5 business days at the latest. The decision to be taken will be notified to the parties in writing and will be final and binding.
EMPLOYER'S PROPOSAL
The proposal submitted by the Public Employer Delegation on August 12 was found insufficient by civil servant unions. According to the proposal:
10% for the first six months of 2026
6% for the second six months of 2026
4% for the first six months of 2027
4% for the second six months of 2027 were projected as salary increases.
