Criticism from Hak-İş to the Minimum Wage Determination Commission

Hak-İş President Mahmut Arslan made important statements at the Hizmet-İş Extended Presidents' Board Meeting held in Manavgat, Antalya. Arslan stated that the work carried out for 50 years in the process of determining the minimum wage has revealed that the structure of the commission needs to change.

Arslan reiterated that the current structure does not allow for the determination of a healthy wage, saying, "For this period, we object to the determination of a minimum wage that will be formed without changing the structure of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission." He also noted that other labor confederations now share this view.

THE STRUCTURE OF THE COMMISSION MUST CHANGE

Stating that "50 years have passed, but we have reached a common ground today," Arslan noted that all three confederations agree that the commission's structure must be changed. Arslan said that the government and relevant institutions should restructure the commission in line with the demands of the confederations before December.

Stating that they will soon publish the work Hak-İş has carried out on this issue, Arslan announced that the confederations will make joint or separate statements in the coming days.
