Criticism of government economic policies from Ekrem İmamoğlu: The impoverishment plan is working like clockwork

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Republican People's Party presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held at the Marmara Prison in Silivri, shared his criticisms of the government's economic policies on his social media account.

Criticizing the presentation of the decline in inflation rates as a success, İmamoğlu stated, "Those who took office two years ago with 38% inflation are presenting a drop to 35% as a success. The judgment belongs to our nation!"

İmamoğlu argued that the current administration stands not with the public, but with a privileged segment, and that the economic crisis is deepening. He expressed his reaction with the words, "The Minister says 'the program is working.' I agree completely: The plan to impoverish the nation is working like clockwork!"

Emphasizing that low-income citizens are facing economic hardships, İmamoğlu noted that the hunger threshold has exceeded 26 thousand liras, while the minimum wage is 22 thousand liras and the lowest pension is not even 17 thousand liras. He stated that it is difficult to believe that food inflation has fallen following the 24% hike in natural gas prices.

İmamoğlu argued that high inflation is a result of poor management and cannot be brought under control solely through Central Bank policies. He stated that inflation will not fall without radical changes in agricultural, trade, and fiscal policies. He emphasized the need for auditing public expenditures, a fair tax system, and support for farmers.

Finally, İmamoğlu expressed his determination by saying, "No matter what they do, even if they throw us all in prison, we will change this course! We will take back the peace, prosperity, and hope stolen from our nation. While Turkey grows, the nation will not shrink!"
