The Ministry of Trade has sent a warning letter to relevant federations following complaints regarding the lack of or missing weight information for ready-to-eat foods sold online.
In the Ministry's letter, it was stated that while weight information is provided for some ready-to-consume products containing red and white meat, such as hamburgers, döner, iskender, and meatballs, this information is presented incompletely or not specified at all for some products.
It was reiterated that in distance sales, it is mandatory for consumers to be informed in a clear and understandable manner about the essential characteristics of the products they intend to purchase. In this context, it was requested that the amount of red and white meat used in products offered for sale on digital platforms be displayed accurately and completely.
The Ministry stated that relevant businesses and platforms must urgently complete their efforts to ensure that weight information is included in product descriptions.
