Deposit and loan interest rates have declined: Here are the new rates

Weekly data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) showed that the decline in Turkish lira deposit and commercial loan interest rates continues. In the week of October 9, the average simple interest rate applied by banks to 1-3 month TL deposits fell to the 36.4 percent level.

The decline in interest rates is being observed in both the deposit and commercial loan sectors.

During the same period, the average commercial loan interest rate, calculated excluding overdraft accounts (KMH) and commercial credit cards, was recorded at 39 percent. Thus, the downward trend in loan costs has continued.

The CBRT's weighted average funding cost declined to 37 percent. The data indicates that interest rates, which were in the 45-48 percent band at the beginning of 2025, have followed a volatile but downward trend in the subsequent period.

The decline in deposit and loan interest rates is being closely monitored in terms of both the return expectations of savers and the financing costs of businesses.
