A new expectation for a discount on diesel fuel prices has emerged. Following a 2.22 TL per liter reduction that took effect today, industry sources suggest that another 4.95 TL discount could be reflected on price boards on Tuesday.
On the gasoline side, no price changes are expected in the short term. While fluctuations in petroleum product prices continue in global markets, Brent crude is reported to be trading in the 102-103 dollar range.
The decline in the metric ton price of diesel in international markets is cited as the primary reason for domestic price expectations. The price per ton of diesel reached 1,485 dollars on September 30 and climbed to 1,500 dollars on October 1. Subsequently, it gradually fell to 1,417 dollars and then to 1,382 dollars.
Industry sources, noting that a new discount on diesel is being calculated following these developments, stated: “Following the 2 TL 22 kuruş discount on diesel that took effect today, price boards will change once again. A 4 TL 95 kuruş discount is expected for diesel on Tuesday. There is no price movement in question for gasoline.”
Sources stated that global tensions continue to be a determining factor in fuel costs, while reminding that diesel and gasoline prices have reached high levels recently. It was noted that the liter price of diesel recently exceeded 100 TL, while gasoline approached 90 TL.
On the other hand, it is pointed out that prices are not solely dependent on international product prices. The Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) on diesel is expected to increase by 3 TL on November 1 and by another 3 TL on December 1. With the impact of VAT, each of these increases is projected to reflect as approximately 3.60 TL on pump prices. It is stated that a similar tax effect will also apply to gasoline prices.
