Double fuel price hike: SCT reduction on diesel almost wiped out in one day

New increases in fuel prices have come into effect. Despite the fixed SCT on diesel being zeroed out between August 13 and August 31, the rise in international markets was reflected in pump prices as a price hike.

Effective from Friday, August 14, a price increase of 8.89 TL per liter was applied to diesel, and 1.52 TL per liter to gasoline. Thus, the effect of the 9.25 TL reduction created by the SCT regulation on diesel has been largely eliminated.

With the Presidential decree published in the Official Gazette, the fixed SCT on diesel was temporarily zeroed out, and this regulation had provided a 9.25 TL decrease in pump prices. However, the sharp rise in global refinery prices limited the advantage provided by the tax reduction in a short time.
