Economic growth in the Eurozone loses momentum
According to Eurostat data, GDP growth in the Eurozone was 0.1 percent on a quarterly basis and 1.5 percent on an annual basis.
The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) has announced the economic growth figures for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone for the second quarter of 2025. According to these data, seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.1 percent in the Eurozone and by 0.2 percent across the EU compared to the previous quarter.
The quarterly growth rate was the lowest recorded for the Eurozone since the first quarter of 2024. In the first quarter of 2025, GDP had increased by 0.6 percent in the Eurozone and by 0.5 percent in the EU.
Economists participating in a survey conducted by Bloomberg had predicted that the Eurozone economy would grow by 0.1 percent compared to the previous quarter, and this forecast has been realized.
On an annual basis, seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 1.5 percent in the Eurozone and by 1.6 percent in the EU. In the previous quarter, these rates were recorded as 1.6 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively.
