According to the figures announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), annual consumer inflation was 68.50%, while monthly CPI was determined to be 3.16%.
Regarding these figures, the government side, in particular, is commenting that "Inflation is not just our problem, but a problem for the whole world."
"THE FACT THAT IT IS NOT JUST OUR PROBLEM DOES NOT NORMALIZE THE SITUATION"
Evaluating the inflation figures and the government's defense regarding inflation for 12punto, economist Prof. Dr. Serap Durusoy said, "The fact that inflation is not just our problem unfortunately does not normalize the situation. Because according to official figures, our March inflation at 3.16 percent is as high as the annual inflation of other countries. Furthermore, while global food prices are at 7.7 percent annually, ours are over 70 percent."
"WHAT HAS TURNED THE ECONOMY INTO GANGRENE..."
Stating 'Of course, inflation is our most chronic problem,' Durusoy continued as follows:
"This month's data also showed that the problem, which has effectively turned the economy into gangrene, cannot be prevented solely by tight monetary policy and credit card regulations."
