Eggs to be imported from Turkey tax-free will reach Russia in two to three weeks
Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev announced that egg imports from Turkey will be realized tax-free in two to three weeks.
Russian Minister of Agriculture Patrushev made assessments regarding egg imports to Russia in a statement to the Rossiya state television channel.
Pointing out that eggs are a seasonal product, Patrushev noted that this is why egg prices have increased during this period.
Expressing his hope that egg prices will fall after the New Year, Patrushev said, "We expect eggs to reach us (Russia) from Azerbaijan this week. I also believe that eggs will arrive from Turkey within 2-3 weeks without import duties. This will allow us to adjust prices."
In his speech on December 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that egg prices in the country had risen because egg imports were not opened in time, and reported that egg imports from Turkey were on the agenda. Putin said, "Our economic ties (with Turkey), including in the agricultural sector, are developing well."
