Energy Minister Bayraktar concludes US meetings: 'Cooperation possible with those countries'

Alparslan Bayraktar's visit to the US as part of the 'Gastech 2024 Energy Forum' has concluded. The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources held meetings with private sector stakeholders operating in the energy field and his counterparts from various countries.

At the energy forum in the US, opportunities for cooperation with Egypt within the framework of investments in natural gas infrastructure were discussed, while a mutual intention was expressed to improve relations with Nigeria, which currently remain below their potential.

Minister Bayraktar shared information on his X social media account regarding the meetings he held within the scope of the Gastech 2024 Energy Forum, which took place in Houston, Texas, in the United States.

Stating that he met with Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi in this context, Bayraktar remarked, 'We evaluated the cooperation opportunities we can develop with Egypt within the framework of the investments we have made in natural gas infrastructure. We agreed to meet again to take concrete steps.'

NIGERIA AND TURKEY MAY COOPERATE IN THE HYDROCARBON SECTOR

In his meeting with Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ekperikpe Ekpo, Bayraktar stated that a mutual intention was established to take concrete steps to improve the relations between the two countries in the hydrocarbon sector, which are currently below their potential.

Pointing out that he also met with Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep S. Puri, Bayraktar said, 'We discussed the common challenges and opportunities experienced during the energy transition process. In this context, we evaluated the topics on which we can work together.'

BAYRAKTAR DISCUSSED ENERGY SUPPLY AND SECURITY WITH FOREIGN CAPITAL

Regarding his meetings with the private sector, Bayraktar signaled that new partnerships could be developed on issues of energy supply and security.

Bayraktar noted the following regarding his other meetings:

'Within the scope of the bilateral meetings we held on the sidelines of Gastech 2024, we also met with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt. We discussed the reflections of current developments in the region on the energy sector and the joint steps we can take for the energy supply security of our region. On the sidelines of Gastech 2024, we held separate meetings with Vitol CEO Russel Hardy and Baker Hughes CEO Lorenzo Simonelli. We evaluated new cooperation opportunities for the upcoming period with both companies, with whom we carry out joint projects in the hydrocarbon field.'
