Exorbitant price fine is 24 million liras
The Ministry of Trade announced that the Unfair Price Evaluation Board has imposed administrative fines totaling 24 million 345 thousand 66 Turkish liras on 309 businesses found to have engaged in exorbitant price increases and hoarding.
The Unfair Price Evaluation Board held its 34th meeting. In a written statement issued by the Ministry of Trade following the meeting, it was stated: “Our Ministry has conducted inspections across Turkey targeting businesses selling bread in violation of the tariff.
The irregularities identified as a result of these inspections were discussed at the Unfair Price Evaluation Board meeting on 22.12.2023, and it was decided to impose administrative fines totaling 9 million 374 thousand 941 TL on 283 businesses found to be selling bread above the determined price tariff.

At the meeting, it was also decided to impose administrative fines of 8 million 282 thousand 225 TL on 24 wholesale merchants who engaged in exorbitant price increases in vegetable and fruit sales, and 6 million 687 thousand 900 TL on 2 businesses engaged in hoarding in the automotive market.
Thus, a total of 24 million 345 thousand 66 Turkish liras in administrative fines has been imposed by the Unfair Price Evaluation Board on 309 businesses found to have engaged in exorbitant price increases and hoarding. As a Ministry, we will continue to resolutely implement the necessary administrative measures against those who carry out such actions,” the statement said.
