Expectations for an increase in holiday bonuses for retirees are on the agenda
A possible raise in holiday bonuses for retirees is being discussed in Ankara's political circles. Fatih Portakal evaluated these claims during a live broadcast.
The holiday bonuses given to retirees for Ramadan and Eid al-Adha were increased to 4 thousand liras in 2025. However, retirees struggling with economic difficulties are expecting this amount to be raised.
SÖZCÜ TV main news anchor Fatih Portakal made the following remarks regarding a possible raise in holiday bonuses for retirees:
'THE POSSIBILITY OF A RAISE IS BEING DISCUSSED'
"At the very least, we hear that it is being discussed. If there is such an intention, let's take action. We are talking about 4 thousand liras. It needs to be more than that. I never forget that in 2023, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said he would make the holiday bonus 15 thousand liras. The people didn't go and vote for him. It's interesting."
"I don't know how much they have matured their thoughts on the minimum wage either, but could an additional raise be made? I don't give it much of a chance, but there is a resolution process. Perhaps they might try a raise to divert attention from that."
These comments by Portakal continue to attract the attention of retirees and the public. The expectation of a raise remains an important agenda item for retirees who are crushed under the weight of economic conditions.
