Ahead of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which will convene in December, the curiosity of millions has turned to the new base wage that will be applied in 2026. Making assessments on the subject, Economist Muhammet Bayram drew attention by saying, "Currently, a 30 percent raise in the minimum wage is coming to the fore" in the current picture. Bayram stated that it is "possible for the wage to reach 30,000 TL" with the welfare share support that could be provided by the President during a period when no interim raise was made.
INFLATION AND PREMIUM INCREASES PROVIDE CLUES ABOUT THE FIGURES
According to the report in the pro-government newspaper Sabah, Bayram pointed to the rise in year-end inflation forecasts and reminded that the increase rate in insurance premiums was announced as 28 percent.
Stating that this rate serves as an important reference for the new minimum wage, Bayram shared the basic scenarios as follows:
"The minimum wage will rise to 28,293 TL with a 28 percent raise, to 28,735 TL with a 30 percent raise, and to 29,177 TL with a 32 percent raise. Currently, a 30 percent raise in the minimum wage is coming to the fore."
