Famous Turkish cargo company that once sponsored Galatasaray and Beşiktaş has gone bankrupt!
The court has issued a bankruptcy ruling for GKN Kargo, which was once a sponsor of Galatasaray and Beşiktaş.
GKN Kargo, which once sponsored leading Turkish sports clubs Galatasaray and Beşiktaş, has officially gone bankrupt. The company, which filed for a concordat in January, had requested time to overcome its difficult financial situation. However, the court, not convinced that the company would be able to escape the bottleneck it was in, issued a bankruptcy ruling.
DEBT IS MASSIVE
According to a report in Türkiye Gazetesi, it has been learned that the company's current debt is massive. It was revealed that GKN Kargo, which has been declared bankrupt, has a debt of 563 million liras. Nearly 50 million liras of this debt consists of receivables from clubs including Galatasaray, Beşiktaş, Gaziantepspor, and Şanlıurfaspor.
COMPANY RENTED A PRIVATE JET WHILE GOING UNDER
Although it was reported that the company had no assets other than 2 registered vehicles, information that the company's owner, Gökhan Akyürek, had traveled by private jet about 2 weeks before the concordat application was entered into the case file. Vatanjet Havacılık A.Ş., which transported Akyürek from Şanlıurfa to Istanbul by private jet, informed the court that it could not collect its 29 thousand lira receivable.
