Fatih Altaylı reveals the source of 'Mehmet Şimşek will resign' claims: 'Politics and the textbook don't always align'
Journalist Fatih Altaylı has revealed who is spreading the rumors that Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek will resign.
Journalist Fatih Altaylı has revealed the source of the claims that Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek will resign.
According to Altaylı, President Tayyip Erdoğan criticized Minister Şimşek regarding economic management during a cabinet meeting held in recent weeks.
''POLITICS AND THE TEXTBOOK DON'T ALWAYS ALIGN''
Altaylı stated that Erdoğan's words, "Mr. Mehmet, you are managing the economy exactly according to the textbook, mashallah. But politics and the textbook don't always align. You know the textbook very well, but we also know politics. How will this work?" were leaked by a group within the Palace, and he wrote that this dialogue led to the resignation rumors.
ERDOĞAN IS NOT SATISFIED WITH YUMAKLI
Altaylı also stated that Erdoğan is not satisfied with Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı. According to Altaylı's claim, Erdoğan reacted harshly to Yumaklı, saying, "It turns out you don't know this job at all."
He conveyed that Erdoğan had appointed Yumaklı due to the suggestions of his inner circle, but that he had been considering another name.
Altaylı, who also made criticisms regarding journalistic backroom politics, used the expressions, "There is no one left in Ankara writing about backroom politics like they used to. Unfortunately, Ankara journalism is dying. There are those who think that insulting those the government dislikes is journalism."
