Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz had announced that the first meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission would be held on December 1.

While millions of employees had their eyes and ears turned to the critical meeting, a new development occurred today.

MINIMUM WAGE MEETING POSTPONED

According to the report by Olcay Aydilek from Halk TV; the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will not meet today. The reason for the postponement of the meeting has not yet been announced.

It has been learned that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security will announce the meeting date in the coming days.

VICE PRESIDENT YILMAZ HAD ANNOUNCED IT

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz had met with journalists in Ankara. Yılmaz had stated that the Minimum Wage Determination Commission would begin its work on December 1 in accordance with legislation.

Stating that the minimum wage had been increased by 114 percent in one year, Yılmaz said, “The minimum wage increase was well above inflation. On top of that, a tax exemption was introduced for wages up to the minimum wage level. The cost of this to the budget was 500 billion TL.”

According to the representatives' work schedule, they are expected to meet 4 times and reach a consensus.

The minimum wage will determine the new minimum wage that will be valid starting from January 2024.
