Foreign trade deficit increased in September

Turkey's exports decreased by 1.8 percent year-on-year in September to 22.7 billion dollars, while imports fell by 1.4 percent to 27.1 billion dollars in the same period. Accordingly, Turkey's foreign trade deficit rose by 0.5 percent year-on-year in September to 5.1 billion dollars.

Foreign trade deficit increased in September

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced the foreign trade figures for September. Accordingly, in September, exports decreased by 1.8 percent compared to the same month last year to 22 billion dollars, while imports fell by 1.4 percent to 27.1 billion dollars. Thus, the foreign trade deficit stood at 5 billion 122 million dollars.

In the 9-month period of the year, exports increased by 3.2 percent to 192.8 billion dollars, while imports decreased by 8 percent to 252.9 billion dollars. The foreign trade deficit declined by 31.5 percent in the first 9-month period to 60.1 billion dollars. The export-to-import coverage ratio rose from 68 percent to 76.3 percent.
