The 2025 minimum wage will be announced this week. Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will meet this Thursday or Friday to set the new wage rate. If a 40 percent increase is applied, the net minimum wage will rise to 23,802 TL, and with a 45 percent increase, it will rise to 24,653 TL. Türk-İş, meanwhile, has demanded a 45 percent increase plus an additional 20 percent welfare share.
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that the 2025 minimum wage will be determined within this week.
In his statement yesterday (December 24), Minister Işıkhan said, "The Minimum Wage Determination Commission will meet on Thursday or Friday, and the 2025 minimum wage will be set."
TÜRK-İŞ ANNOUNCED ITS RAISE DEMAND IN RECENT DAYS
Türk-İş, which sits at the table representing the worker side in the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, had announced its raise demand in recent days.
Türk-İş had requested a 20 percent welfare share in addition to a 45 percent raise, asking for the net minimum wage to be 29,583 liras. This corresponds to a 74 percent raise.
According to the report by Türkiye newspaper, a net minimum wage of 29,583 liras means that its cost to the employer would rise to around 36,000 liras.
HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE RAISE BE?
While a 32.5 percent raise had previously emerged based on the average inflation formula, this figure was seen as the rate at which negotiations would begin.
Now, it is expected that minimum wage negotiations will begin with at least a 40 percent raise.
The President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan factor is also present in the minimum wage raise negotiations.
Erdoğan may also increase the raise rate to 45 percent to partially meet the workers' raise demand.
