Here are the details...
With the approach of the new year, the raise rates eagerly awaited by retirees and civil servants have become clear. The raise rates to be applied to salaries have begun to take shape following the five-month inflation data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute and collective bargaining agreement adjustments.
So, how much of a raise will worker and civil servant retirees receive? What will the lowest pension be? Here are the details…
HOW WILL INFLATION RATES REFLECT ON SALARIES?
The inflation rate between July and November 2024 was announced as 14.57%. December inflation is expected to be around 1.72%. In this case, the total six-month inflation will reach 16.54%, and this rate will play a critical role in determining salary raises.
For example, a worker retiree with a current salary of 12,000 TL will increase their salary to 13,748 TL with a 14.57% raise.
If December inflation meets expectations, this increase rate will rise to 16.54%, and the salary will be approximately 13,986 TL. These raises aim to ease the living conditions of retirees to some extent.
HOW IS THE RAISE RATE DETERMINED FOR CIVIL SERVANTS AND CIVIL SERVANT RETIREES?
Salary increase rates for civil servants and civil servant retirees are calculated by taking into account the collective bargaining agreement and the inflation difference. A 6% increase stemming from the collective bargaining agreement for 2025 has already been finalized.
In addition to this, a 4.15% difference obtained from the five-month inflation data will be added to salaries. According to current calculations, the total raise rate for civil servants and civil servant retirees appears to be 10.15%. However, with the announcement of December data, this rate could rise up to 12%.
This increase in civil servant salaries becomes more meaningful when combined with collective bargaining gains and the inflation difference. Thanks to the new rates, a positive contribution to the budgets of civil servants is expected.
WHAT WILL THE LOWEST PENSION BE?
As of July 2024, the lowest pension was set at 12,500 TL.
In January 2025, this figure is expected to rise to a level between 14,000 TL and 15,000 TL. This figure will be finalized with the December inflation data. These increases are of vital importance to maintain the living standards of retirees.
IS A WELFARE SHARE ADJUSTMENT ON THE AGENDA?
A welfare share, which aims to increase the purchasing power of retirees, may also be part of the 2025 salary increases. A welfare share increase of around 5% is expected. This regulation is planned to cover all retiree groups and is aimed at providing a positive reflection on salaries.
WHAT WILL THE NEW SALARY PERIOD BRING?
The 2025 salary raises aim to reduce the effects of high inflation and protect the living standards of retirees and civil servants.
