Attention those with GSS debt! Service period extended by another year: Will they be able to go to state hospitals?

Citizens with premium debts to the Social Security Institution (SGK) will be able to receive free health services from state and university hospitals until December 31, 2025.

The presidential decree has allowed these individuals to benefit from health assistance without being subject to a Council of Ministers decision.

The presidential decree entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated January 17, 2025.

With this regulation, the right of GSS premium debtors to benefit from state and university hospitals has been extended for another year.

These citizens, who would normally be required to pay off their premium debts, will continue to benefit from health services until the end of 2025.

WILL DEBTORS BE ABLE TO BENEFIT FROM STATE HOSPITALS?

The decision has provided significant convenience for citizens with GSS debt in accessing healthcare.

The previous period determined for debtors to receive services from state hospitals and state university hospitals was set to expire on December 31, 2024. With the new regulation, this period has been extended until December 31, 2025.

This regulation only covers citizens with GSS premium debt. Debtors will be able to receive health services free of charge at state and university hospitals.
