Even a doctor's salary isn't enough for rent in Istanbul's luxury neighborhoods! Prices have reached jaw-dropping levels

At a time in Turkey when salaries cannot keep up with rental prices, housing costs in Istanbul's luxury neighborhoods continue to rise rapidly. In a country where the minimum wage has been set at 22,000 lira as of 2025, the rent for 100-square-meter apartments in the city's prestigious districts and areas with high concentrations of villas has exceeded 60,000 lira.

Across Istanbul, the average rent for 100-square-meter residences has reached 26,500 lira, showing a 45 percent increase as of the new year. With current price hikes, rents in some areas have even surpassed the lowest doctor's salary of 72,000 TL.
