The 30 percent increase in the minimum wage continues to be debated across the country.

The minimum wage, set at 22 thousand 102 liras, has effectively eroded rather than improving workers' living standards when compared to the hunger threshold of 21 thousand TL and the poverty threshold exceeding 68 thousand TL.

Millions of minimum wage earners struggling with economic difficulties do not find the increase sufficient and continue to express their reactions against the raise.

A NEW INCREASE IN FEBRUARY?

Economy writer Zülfikar Doğan brought up claims that if Erdoğan wins a victory in an early election, the minimum wage will be increased again in June.

In his assessment last week, Doğan stated, “Türk-İş announced the December hunger threshold as 21 thousand 83 TL and the poverty threshold as 68 thousand 675 TL.''

''In this situation, it is being discussed behind the scenes that if Erdoğan wins an early election, he may decide to increase the minimum wage again in June, as it will remain below the hunger threshold in February,” he said.

NEW ECONOMIC STEPS ON THE WAY

Zülfikar Doğan stated that preparations for new low-interest loan campaigns for SMEs, exporters, and small tradespeople, as well as new packages for housing loans, have been completed by Erdoğan and will be announced soon.

Furthermore, Doğan expressed that these developments would be an indicator of the loosening of the Şimşek program in line with Erdoğan's election calculations and political plans.
