Hunger and poverty thresholds reach record levels: Daily expenditure exceeds 700 TL

The United Metal Workers' Union Class Research Center (BİSAM) has announced its hunger and poverty threshold data for November. According to the research, the monthly expenditure required for a family of four to maintain a healthy diet was determined to be 20 thousand 967 liras.

While this figure is defined as the hunger threshold, the poverty threshold reached a record level of 72 thousand 524 liras.

COST OF LIVING FOR A SINGLE PERSON EXCEEDS 33 THOUSAND LIRAS

The minimum cost of living for an individual living alone was determined to be 33 thousand 807 liras. This figure also highlights the individual poverty threshold.

FRUIT AND VEGETABLES ARE THE HIGHEST COST ITEM

The research stated that the most costly product group in food expenditures is fruit and vegetables. While the share of fruit and vegetable expenditures in total food spending was determined to be 29.1 percent, the share of milk and dairy products was 26.25 percent.

DAILY FOOD EXPENDITURE REACHED 700 LIRAS

The daily cost of healthy nutrition for a family of four has risen to 700 liras. This amount once again reveals the impact of rising food prices on household budgets.

The data announced by BİSAM highlights the burden of rising costs on citizens while also emphasizing the urgency of proposed solutions.
