Major hikes in MTV, property tax, and traffic fines in 2026! Here are the new amounts...
The rate of increase for taxes, fees, and traffic fines in 2026 is being closely monitored. According to calculations, the revaluation rate could be at the 25.25 percent level. This signals significant increases in Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV), property tax, fees, and traffic fines. Here is the 2026 list with the hikes...
As we approach the end of 2025, one of the questions citizens are most curious about is, "How much will taxes, fees, and traffic fines increase in 2026?" While the revaluation rate (YDO) is the determining factor for these increases, all eyes are on the official figures to be announced.
While the official announcement for the revaluation rate (YDO), which forms the basis of these increases, is awaited, the estimates made by experts have become a hot topic.
Ekonomim columnist Alaattin Aktaş predicted in his analysis that the YDO would be around 25.25 percent in 2026. This rate means noticeable increases, especially in Motor Vehicle Tax, property tax, and traffic fines.
EXPECTATION OF A 25.25 PERCENT INCREASE
Aktaş shared his expectation with the words, "My estimate is that the Domestic Producer Price Index (Yİ-ÜFE) will show an increase of 1.5 percent each in September and October. In this case, the annual average Yİ-ÜFE increase at the end of October, in other words, the revaluation rate, will be 25.25 percent."
Furthermore, emphasizing that the President does not have the authority to change the rate to be applied to traffic fines, Aktaş stated that fines will increase directly by 25.25 percent in 2026.

MTV AND PROPERTY TAX WILL ALSO BE AFFECTED
The hikes are not limited to traffic fines. The Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) is also expected to increase at the same rate. Aktaş stated, "MTV has been applied at the YDO level for two years (2024 and 2025). It will be the same in 2026."
The system works differently for property tax. By law, this tax is increased by half of the YDO. Therefore, it is projected that property tax will rise by 12.62 percent in 2026.
