Minimum wage statement from Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay! Did he give a figure?

With only a few days left until the new year, millions of workers who did not receive an interim raise in their salaries in July have turned their eyes and ears to the 2025 minimum wage increase.

There is eager anticipation regarding what the new minimum wage, which directly affects approximately 7 million people and indirectly concerns the entire society, will be.

In this regard, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its first meeting on December 10.

The 5-person Türk-İş delegation representing the labor side in the commission will be chaired by Vice President Ramazan Ağar. As in previous years, the delegation will include 4 workers this year as well.

Workers will be represented at the table by cook Selma Sayın, hairdresser Nihan Koçak, subcontractor worker Durmuş Öztürk, and journalist Sezer Özseven.

With only a few days left until the meeting, Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay made important statements.

Speaking at an Economy Journalists Association (EMD) program, Atalay said that the minimum wage is not the cause of inflation. Atalay stated, "There has been no raise in the minimum wage for a year, but prices continue to rise."

Atalay also reacted to MÜSİAD's minimum wage proposal. The Türk-İş President said, "A wage that allows one to live like a human being and breathe must be determined."

MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı had used the expression, "In my opinion, an increase of over 25 percent in the minimum wage is not correct."

Regarding expectations for the minimum wage, Atalay said, "Let us see the figures from the employer and the government next week, then we will announce ours."

FIGURES ON THE TABLE FOR MINIMUM WAGE

According to the probable scenarios regarding the minimum wage, the wages will take shape as follows:

If a 20 percent raise is granted, the minimum wage will be 20 thousand 402 liras.

If a 25 percent raise is granted, the minimum wage will be 21 thousand 252 liras.

If a 30 percent raise is granted, the minimum wage will be 22 thousand 102 liras.

If a 35 percent raise is granted, the minimum wage will be 22 thousand 502 liras.

If a 40 percent raise is granted, the minimum wage will be 23 thousand 802 liras.
