Results of survey with 20,000 participants announced: What is the minimum wage expectation?

According to the report by Ekonomim newspaper, 31 percent of the survey participants (6,141 people) stated that they expect a 20-25 percent raise in the minimum wage, while 26 percent (5,297 people) indicated they expect a 35-40 percent increase.

In the survey, the rate of those expecting a 25-30 percent raise in the minimum wage was determined to be 26 percent (5,189 people), while the rate of those expecting a 35-40 percent increase was 17 percent (3,373 people).

The minimum wage is currently applied as 20,002 Turkish Lira gross.

From this amount, a total deduction of 3,000 Turkish Lira is made, consisting of a 14 percent (2,800 Turkish Lira) Social Security Institution (SGK) premium and a 1 percent (200 Turkish Lira) Unemployment Insurance premium.

Thus, the net minimum wage is paid as 17,002 Turkish Lira.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) had set its year-end forecast for 2024 at 44 percent and its year-end forecast for 2025 at 21 percent.

In this context, if a raise is made based on the 44 percent rate, the net minimum wage will rise to 24,482.88 Turkish Lira, and if a 21 percent raise is made, it will rise to 20,572.42 Turkish Lira.

If a 25 percent raise is applied to the minimum wage, the new amount will reach 21,252.5 Turkish Lira, and if 30 percent is applied, it will reach 22,102.6 Turkish Lira.

Currently, the minimum wage support for employers is applied as 700 Turkish Lira.

The duration of this support also ends as of the end of the year.
