SGK allowances increased in 2025! How much are the sick leave payments?

The nursing and funeral allowances provided by the Social Security Institution (SGK) have been increased. Temporary incapacity allowances, known as sick leave payments for employees who fall ill, will also be paid with the increase in the new year.

According to the law, the lower limit of the allowances provided by the SGK for sick workers, as well as those under work accident, occupational disease, and maternity insurance, is determined based on the daily minimum wage. The allowances of those who are receiving or will be entitled to receive payments based on a daily wage below the newly determined daily minimum wage will be paid according to the new minimum wage.

HOW MUCH IS THE INCAPACITY ALLOWANCE?

The lowest incapacity allowance cannot be less than half of the daily minimum wage for inpatient treatments and two-thirds of the daily minimum wage for outpatient treatments. Due to the increase of the gross minimum wage to 26,005.50 TL effective from January 1, 2025, the daily minimum wage has become 866.85 TL. Accordingly, in 2025, the lowest daily incapacity allowance will be applied as at least 433.42 TL for inpatient treatments and 577.90 TL for outpatient treatments.

The daily incapacity allowance for apprentices and interns will be 216.70 TL for inpatient treatments and 288.93 TL for outpatient treatments.

SICK LEAVE PAYMENTS INCREASED

The lowest sick leave payments for those currently receiving them among employees under 4/a (SSK) or 4/b (BAĞ-KUR) status, as well as apprentices and interns, will be increased to the new amounts determined effective from January 1. For example, while a worker with a gross salary of 21 thousand liras was receiving a daily sick leave payment of 350 TL for inpatient treatment until December 31, they will receive 433.42 TL per day starting from January 1 if their treatment continues. The same worker, who was receiving 466.67 TL per day for outpatient treatment until December 31, will receive 577.90 TL starting from January 1.

NURSING ALLOWANCE BECAME 1,238 TL

The nursing allowance provided by the SGK in case of birth to women working as insured under 4/a or 4/b status and to insured men whose spouses do not work has increased from 857 TL in 2024 to 1,238 TL in 2025.

Those who give birth after January 1, 2025, will be given a nursing allowance of 1,238 TL, provided that the child is born alive.

HOW MUCH IS THE FUNERAL ALLOWANCE?

The SGK provides a funeral allowance to the beneficiaries of those who die as a result of a work accident or occupational disease, and those who die while receiving a permanent incapacity income, disability, or old-age pension. Furthermore, a funeral allowance is also provided in the event of the death of those for whom at least 360 days of premiums have been reported. The condition of being an insured worker at the time of death is not required for individuals for whom 360 days of premiums have been reported. The funeral allowance amount, which was 3,385 TL in 2024, has increased to 4,888 TL in 2025.
