Signal from Cevdet Yılmaz regarding the lowest pension adjustment! How much will it be?
Important developments are taking place regarding the 2025 pension and civil servant salary increases. All eyes are on the December data for inflation rates and salary hikes. Cevdet Yılmaz has signaled that new regulations will be made regarding the lowest pension. How much will the lowest pension be? How much will the lowest pension be in 2025? Here are the details...
The 6-month inflation rate, which is the determining factor for civil servant and pension salary increases, will be finalized with the announcement of the December data. The inflation rate for the first 5 months, covering July, August, September, October, and November, was announced as 14.57 percent.
If December inflation is 2 percent, the 6-month inflation will rise to 16.86 percent, and if it is 2.5 percent, it will rise to 17.43 percent.
The inflation difference plays an important role in the salary increases to be applied to civil servants and pensioners.
If inflation occurs at 2 percent, the inflation difference will be 6.24 percent. In the event of a 2.5 percent inflation increase, this difference will be calculated as 6.76 percent.
WILL THE LOWEST PENSION INCREASE?
Approximately 4 million people in Turkey live on the lowest pension. The lowest pension, which was raised to 12,500 TL in July 2024, is hindered by base salary calculations.
Pensioners whose base salaries range between 7,000 and 10,000 TL receive their salaries as 12,500 TL with state support. However, this segment may not be able to exceed the current salary level even with the 2025 raise.
With the raise rate to be shaped according to December inflation, the lowest pension could rise up to 14,320 TL. A parliamentary regulation is required for the lowest pension to increase.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, in his statement to NTV, gave a signal of a regulation for pensioners receiving the lowest pension. Yılmaz said, "Our fundamental rule is not to let our citizens be crushed by inflation. A study will definitely be conducted on this matter."
Negotiations regarding the minimum wage begin on December 10. Vice President Yılmaz stated, "The situation regarding the minimum wage is not just about the public sector. There is a tripartite mechanism. It is a mechanism that has been ongoing for a long time anyway. I want to underline this; the minimum wage is, as the name suggests, the minimum, meaning it cannot be lower than this. What is important is this line.
A raise of more than 100 percent was made from 2023. In 2024, a raise of approximately 50 percent was made. With a decision at least as important as these, we exempted the minimum wage from taxes.
A balance will be sought while determining the wage. It would not be right to state a figure now," he said.
How much the new minimum wage will be will become clear after the negotiations to be held within the framework of the tripartite mechanism.
