SSI expert provides figures for unemployment benefits: Also calculated the minimum wage

While millions of employees have their eyes and ears turned to the 2025 minimum wage increase, the question of how much unemployment benefits will be along with the minimum wage is a matter of curiosity.

The 2025 unemployment benefit will be determined according to the minimum wage increase. SGK Expert İsa Karakaş made a prediction regarding the minimum wage and unemployment benefits.

HOW MUCH WILL UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS INCREASE?

In his article today, Karakaş calculated how much unemployment benefits will increase at the beginning of the year. Unemployment benefits are calculated as 40 percent of the insured's average daily gross earnings, which are calculated by taking into account the earnings subject to premium for the last 4 months.

In his article, the SGK expert stated, "Since the amount of unemployment benefit cannot exceed 80 percent of the gross monthly minimum wage by law, the highest benefit of 15,880.54 TL is paid regardless of how high the insured unemployed person's earnings subject to the benefit are. The floor and ceiling of this benefit, which is currently being applied, will change at the rate of the update to be made to the minimum wage as of the beginning of the year."

HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE?

İsa Karakaş included his prediction for the 2025 minimum wage in his article as follows:

GROSS MINIMUM WAGE: 26,500.00

SGK PREMIUM 14%: 3,710.00

UNEMPLOYMENT INS. PREMIUM 1%: 265.00

TOTAL DEDUCTIONS: 3,975.00

NET MINIMUM WAGE: 22,525.00

Accordingly, we can say that an increase of approximately 35 percent in the lower and upper limits of unemployment benefits as of the beginning of the year is highly probable.

It is likely that the unemployment benefit for those working at the minimum wage will rise from 7,940 TL to 10,720 TL, and the maximum amount of benefit that those with high earnings subject to premiums while working can receive will rise from 15,880 TL to 21,438 TL."
