Supermarkets to freeze prices for Ramadan! The discount to be applied has been announced

Faruk Güzeldere, Chairman of the Board of the Istanbul Food and Retailers Association (Istanbul PERDER), announced that they will freeze prices on thousands of products, primarily basic food items, throughout the month of Ramadan in member supermarkets, and that discounts of up to 25 percent will be applied to some products.

RED MEAT PRICE FROZEN

In a written statement, Faruk Güzeldere noted that within the framework of the protocol they signed with the Meat and Milk Board (ESK), they have frozen red meat prices from January until the end of Ramadan, and that they are delivering meat to all households at affordable prices.

"WE WILL APPLY DISCOUNTS OF UP TO 25 PERCENT"

Explaining that they are implementing a similar practice for other products to further increase the abundance of households, Güzeldere used the following expressions:

"We will freeze prices on thousands of products, especially basic food items, in member supermarkets throughout the month of Ramadan, and we will apply discounts of up to 25 percent on some products. With our 66 member supermarkets, nearly 2,700 branches, and approximately 43,000 employees in Istanbul, we are able to reach all households in the megacity with the discounts and price freezes we have implemented. You will be able to see our campaign in our chain supermarket branches all over Istanbul. With this campaign, which local chain supermarkets fully support, we will carry out special campaigns on many products throughout the month of Ramadan and bring the abundance of Ramadan to tables. We will continue to be of one heart with all our members in the fight against inflation."

"WE WILL PROTECT CITIZENS AGAINST OPPORTUNISM"

Stating that they will protect consumers against exorbitant price increases based on opportunism throughout the month of Ramadan, Faruk Güzeldere made the following assessments:

"We have frozen prices until the end of the month of Ramadan on thousands of products in hundreds of categories, from pulses to pasta, soup groups to flour, liquid oils to canned goods, tomato paste to sauce groups, baking ingredients to durable dairy products, delicatessen items to dates, carbonated drinks to snack products, tea to coffee varieties, cleaning products to personal care materials, baby diapers to detergents, and glassware. Our consumers should not force their budgets in a way that disrupts the supply-demand balance by seeing the campaigns as temporary. Since we do not have a stock problem with the products for which we have gone for discounts and price freezes, they can spread their shopping over the days with peace of mind. Our campaigns will continue every day, and they will be able to see the discounted product prices on the shelves every day."

DISCOUNTS WILL BE APPLIED TO BASIC FOOD PRODUCTS IN KAYSERI AS WELL

Kayseri Chamber of Commerce President Ömer Gülsoy said that in order to ensure that citizens can access basic food products at affordable prices during the month of Ramadan, there will be no price hikes and discounts will be applied.

President Gülsoy announced that there will be no price hikes on food products in Kayseri during the month of Ramadan;

"The Sultan of 11 months, the month of Ramadan, begins on Saturday, March 1st. As the Kayseri Chamber of Commerce, our goal is to ensure that our citizens can access basic food products at more affordable prices during Ramadan, to not allow opportunists to gain ground, and to strengthen the spirit of solidarity, unity, and togetherness in our city. We recently held a broad consultation meeting with the participation of representatives from the livestock, meat and meat products, food, agriculture, fruit and vegetable trade, local supermarket chains, and retail sectors. With the decision we made with both our producers and our retail sector representatives, campaigns and discounts will be made on hundreds of products in our local and chain supermarkets throughout the month of Ramadan. Our slogan is 'No price hikes during Ramadan, plenty of abundance.'"

"Our local and chain supermarkets will apply significant discounts on basic food products throughout the month of Ramadan. I believe that the Kayseri business world will fulfill its responsibility in this process," he said.

Expressing that they will continue to work to ensure price stability and protect the purchasing power of the public, Gülsoy said; "Our Red Meat Producers Union, our Kayseri PERDER members, our local supermarkets, and our local producers will make sacrifices. They will sell their products to our people at the most affordable price. Discounts will be made on hundreds of products. We have started to announce this to our people with posters hung in our local supermarkets. I invite our consumers and sector representatives to act consciously. We will also take a clear stance together against opportunism. We never want a stain on our city's name. We want to benefit from the power of our sector representatives, not our state. I would like to thank our sector representatives and their employees who will make discounts by standing by our citizens in advance. I wish you a blessed Ramadan with feelings of mutual aid, solidarity, unity, and togetherness. May God grant us the ability to fast with pleasure and in a healthy way. We are always by the side of our state and our nation. The best auditor is the conscious consumer. They definitely know both the right product and the right price," he said.

PRESIDENTS GAVE SUPPORT

YUM-BİR President İbrahim Afyon, Red Meat Producers Union President Ercan Aras, Kayseri Retailers Association President Mehmet Buçukoğlu, and Bakers Chamber President Mustafa Aslan, who attended the press conference, also said that they would support the campaign.

RAMADAN PITA BREAD IS 30 LIRA

On the other hand, Bakers Chamber President Mustafa Aslan also announced the price of the Ramadan pita bread to be sold in the city at the meeting. Aslan said; "We will continue to sell the 360-gram double pita, which is our price from 6-7 months ago, for 18 TL this Ramadan without any price transition. Our pita with egg is 30 TL, and our pita with sesame is 25 TL. Our regular pita is 18 TL. The federation had announced 250 grams for 20 TL across Turkey, but we will offer 360-gram pita to our people for 18 TL to support the campaign," he said.
