The cost of bringing a phone from abroad has increased: IMEI fee has risen

In the Official Gazette published on November 27, the "General Communiqué on Tax Procedure Law" by the Revenue Administration of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance was released. According to the communiqué, the revaluation rate was set at 43.93 percent. Following this rate, taxes were also increased. The IMEI registration fee paid for phones brought from abroad has risen from 31,692 liras to 45,614.20 liras.

Thus, the IMEI registration fee has surpassed the price of some mobile phones in Turkey.

THE 2015 PRICE WAS 131 LIRAS

The IMEI registration fee, which was 131 TL in 2015, rose to 138 TL in 2016. The IMEI registration fee, which was 149 TL in 2017, increased to 500 TL in 2018.

The IMEI fee rose to 1,500 TL in 2019. The IMEI registration fee, which was 1,838 TL in 2020, became 2,006 TL in 2021. The IMEI registration fee became 2,738 TL in 2022.

In 2023, the IMEI fee became 6,091 TL and was hiked for a second time within the same year.

The IMEI registration fee, which was increased by more than 3 times in July, closed the year at 20,000 TL. In 2024, the IMEI fee had become 31,692 TL.
