WHEN WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE ANNOUNCED?

The negotiations, which will begin in December, are expected to last about two weeks, and the new minimum wage is expected to be announced in the last week of December.

HOW IS THE MINIMUM WAGE DETERMINED?

The process of determining the minimum wage is carried out by the 15-member Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which includes five representatives each from workers, employers, and the government, as required by law. The commission meets at the invitation of the Minister of Labor and Social Security and traditionally meets four times in December to continue its work.

One of the members appointed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security chairs the commission. Meetings are held with the participation of at least 10 members, and decisions are made by majority vote. In the event of a tie, the view of the side that includes the chair is accepted as the majority.
