The 2025 raise rate, which concerns millions of retirees, has been announced. Accordingly, the raise rate valid for the first 6 months of 2025 has been set at 15.75 percent.

Widow and orphan pensions have also risen following the pension increases.

HOW ARE WIDOW AND ORPHAN PENSIONS DETERMINED?

Social Security Consultant Emin Yılmaz spoke to Milliyet and stated, “Legally, if one of the spouses passes away, regardless of whether they are male or female, the other is classified as a widow/widower. The surviving children are considered orphans.

Retirees receive salary adjustments twice a year, in January and July. Salary adjustments are evaluated based on the announced inflation rate. Payments to widows and orphans are made based on their share of the file.

If only the spouse remains and is not working, 75% of the deceased person's salary is granted; if they are working, 50% is granted.

HOW MUCH WILL WIDOWS AND ORPHANS RECEIVE?

If the spouse is not working and there are no children, the spouse of a deceased person with a salary of 14,469 TL receives 75% of the salary, which is 10,851 TL as a widow's pension.

If the spouse is working, 50% of the salary is granted, and the person receives a salary of 7,234.50 TL.

A child with a 25% share receives an orphan's pension of 3,617.25 TL.”
