Gold and foreign currency rise while the stock market declines! Here are the week's winning and losing investment instruments
While gold and foreign exchange rates brought gains to investors this week, stocks on Borsa Istanbul lost value.
In the Grand Bazaar, the gram price of 24-karat gold bullion increased by 3.20 percent to reach 4,537 liras. The Republic gold coin gained 3.17 percent in value to reach 30,651 liras, while the quarter gold coin rose by 3.19 percent to 7,600 liras. In the foreign exchange market, the US dollar increased by 0.33 percent to 41.1510 liras, and the euro rose by 0.74 percent to 48.0230 liras.
On Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index closed the week with a 0.74 percent decline at 11,288.05 points.
The index saw a weekly low of 11,262.82 points and a high of 11,605.30 points.
Investment funds gained 0.76 percent in value overall, while pension funds showed an increase of 0.65 percent.
Among investment funds, the highest gainers were "precious metal" funds with 2.16 percent.
