Gold closes the week with an 8.29 percent gain
Gold stood out in weekly market returns. While gram gold rose by 8.29 percent, increases were also observed in the BIST 100, foreign exchange, and funds.
The strongest performance of the week in the markets was seen in gold. While stocks traded on Borsa İstanbul gained an average of 2.39 percent on a weekly basis, gram gold provided higher returns to its investors with an 8.29 percent increase.
The BIST 100 index saw a weekly low of 13,376.01 points and a high of 13,956.18 points. The index completed the week at 13,779.39 points, an increase of 2.39 percent compared to the previous week's close.
In the Grand Bazaar, the gram selling price of 24-karat bullion gold increased by 8.29 percent to 6,664 liras. The selling price of Republic gold also rose by 8.12 percent, reaching 43,532 liras.
The selling price of quarter gold, which was at the 10,103 lira level last weekend, rose by 8.25 percent to 10,936 liras.
Limited increases were also observed on the foreign exchange side. The US dollar increased by 0.37 percent on a weekly basis to 47.7030 liras, while the Euro gained 1.20 percent in value to reach 55.1720 liras.
In the fund market, investment funds gained 1.59 percent and pension funds gained 2.32 percent this week. Among investment funds, the highest return was provided by "Precious Metals Funds" with 4.76 percent.
