Gold races to a record in the Grand Bazaar: This week's winning investment vehicles revealed
While stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul fell by an average of 0.53 percent on a weekly basis, the gram price of gold rose by 2.63 percent, the dollar/TL by 0.34 percent, and the euro/TL by 0.27 percent.
The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul saw a weekly fluctuation, hitting a low of 9,619.83 points and a high of 9,962.68 points. However, it closed the week at 9,951.65 points, a loss of 0.53% compared to the previous close.
The rise in gold prices in the Grand Bazaar drew attention. The gram selling price of 24-karat bullion gold increased by 2.63% to reach 3,321 TL. The price of the Republic gold coin also rose by 2.59% to 22,500 TL. Quarter gold, which traded at 5,420 TL last week, increased by 2.64% this week to 5,563 TL.
Upward movement was also observed in foreign exchange rates. The US dollar gained 0.34% in value to reach 35.9810 TL, while the euro rose by 0.27% to 37.3210 TL.
Investment funds lost 0.02% in value this week, while pension funds lost 0.47%. Among investment funds, the category that gained the most was "precious metals" funds, with a rise of 3.11%.
