Goldman Sachs revises S&P 500 outlook upward
American investment giant Goldman Sachs has raised its 12-month forecast for the S&P 500 index, offering new expectations to investors.
According to Goldman Sachs' new analysis, the S&P 500 index is expected to gain approximately 11 percent in value over the next year, reaching 6,900 points. The bank, which previously held its forecast at the 6,500 level, has now revised its estimate in line with rising expectations.
The institution's analysis projects that the index will rise by 3 percent to 6,400 points within the next three months, and by 6 percent to 6,600 points within six months. These projections are underpinned by expectations of strong economic growth in 2026, the US Federal Reserve's (Fed) plan to lower interest rates, and the strong performance of leading major companies.
Furthermore, the assessment raised the expected price-to-earnings ratio for the S&P 500 index from 20.4 to 22. Earnings per share (EPS) growth is estimated to be 7 percent in 2025 and 2026.
While recommending that investors build a balanced and diversified portfolio, Goldman Sachs also pointed out that investing in alternative asset management companies and firms positively affected by low bond yields could be advantageous.
