Striking IYI Party claim about Hafize Gaye Erkan! 'The one she sent before the election...'

A new claim that will be widely discussed has been made regarding the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB), Hafize Gaye Erkan.

It has been alleged that Gaye Erkan, who was appointed to head the Central Bank after the May elections, had sent her CV to the IYI Party before the election.

10haber columnist Erdal Sağlam stated that the CV sent by Erkan was not accepted as a result of research conducted by the IYI Party, noting: "The tweet posted by IYI Party Deputy Chairman in charge of Economy Bilge Yılmaz after the appointment had drawn attention. While criticizing the appointment of Şahap Kavcıoğlu to the BRSA Presidency, Yılmaz referred to Gaye Erkan, who was appointed in his place, and said: I would like to note in advance that the TCMB appointment will also create a great disappointment."

Noting that Gaye Erkan has continued to stay in the USA since the beginning of the year, Sağlam wrote: "We must also say that the corridors of the Central Bank are full of countless rumors and even speculation following the latest developments. It is immediately noticeable in our contacts that the morale of Central Bank employees is very low."

IMPORTANT ALLEGATIONS REGARDING HAFIZE GAYE ERKAN 

Stating that she has worked as a protocol officer on the executive floor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) for 4 years, Büşra Bozkurt made striking allegations against Central Bank Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan and her father Erol Erkan in a complaint she wrote to CİMER.

In her petition, Bozkurt stated, "When our President Hafize Gaye Erkan's father, Mr. Erol Erkan, and her mother, Mrs. Gamze, were entering the protocol area, Mr. Erol said to me as he passed by, 'Can you stop by for a moment?' I stopped by, and he said, 'I want reliable and steady people to enter and exit the President's office. You are also an employee we trust.' Then he called Human Resources and said that I would now be serving them."

Bozkurt also claimed that an official vehicle was allocated to Erol Erkan and that while Hafize Gaye Erkan was in the USA, her father Erkan would go to the bank with the official vehicle to conduct inspections.

Claiming that Erol Erkan was brought to an unofficial managerial position at the bank, Bozkurt alleged that Erol Erkan was authorized in matters such as hiring, firing, and reassignment of personnel.

HAFIZE GAYE ERKAN MADE A STATEMENT

In a statement she made following the allegations against her, Hafize Gaye Erkan said, "I will use my necessary legal rights against those responsible."

Erkan used the following expressions:

“In recent days, news that is confidence-eroding, malicious, and inconsistent with the facts has been circulated regarding our Bank, with the aim of targeting myself and my family.

I would like to share with the public, in particular, my astonishment and sadness in the face of these baseless allegations, which I learned about during the extremely productive meetings we held with important names in the economy and business world in the United States of America.

The baseless news accusing me and our Bank is absolutely unacceptable. I will use my necessary legal rights against those responsible.”

ALLEGATION OF FRAUD REGARDING ERKAN FROM IYI PARTY'S TURHAN ÇÖMEZ

Following these allegations, IYI Party Balıkesir Deputy Turhan Çömez submitted a parliamentary question for the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, to answer.

Çömez directed the following questions to Şimşek:

"Is the information that special protocol is applied to Central Bank Governor Hafize Erkan's father, Mr. Erol Erkan, and her mother, Mrs. Gamze Erkan, correct? Is the information that an office was allocated to Mr. Erol Erkan at the Central Bank correct?

Is the information that Mr. Erol Erkan comes and goes to the building where the Central Bank is located using state official vehicles correct? If all of these are true, do you think such a practice will damage the reputation and reliability of the Central Bank?

Do you think it is possible for the Central Bank to be managed with this mindset?"
