The increase in the number of people choosing Greece for their holidays due to high prices in Turkey has also become a topic of discussion in Russia. Andrey Gavrilov, a member of the Duma tourism committee, stated that all sectors dependent on tourism in Turkey are suffering losses due to the flow of tourists to Greece, and that many Russian tourists are also searching for alternatives to Turkey.

The Russian Tourism Industry Union (RST) also pointed out that local people in Turkey, who are finding it difficult to go on holiday due to high costs, are choosing Greece.

RST Vice President Dmitriy Gorin said, "Turkish tourists frequently choose neighboring countries for their holidays. This is not the case for Russian tourists."

Pointing out that inflation in Turkey has risen to 80 percent, Gorin added, "It is more affordable for the local population to vacation in neighboring countries."

Stating that there is also an increase in the number of tourists coming from Turkey to Russia, the Russian tourism expert noted that the number of Russian tourists visiting Turkey is expected to rise from 6.5 million to 7 million compared to last year.
