How did prices change in Istanbul in January? Bridge toll fees soared, shirt prices dropped!
The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the price changes for January. Accordingly, while the bridge toll fee saw the highest price increase in Istanbul, the product that became the cheapest was the shirt.
According to data from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), the product with the highest price increase in Istanbul in January was the bridge toll fee. On the other hand, the product with the largest price decrease was the shirt, which fell by 13.92 percent.
According to the ITO's Istanbul Wage Earners Cost of Living Index, the retail prices of 158 out of 242 products increased in January, while the prices of 30 products decreased and the prices of 54 products remained unchanged.
In January, the bridge toll fee, which is in the transportation expenditures group, became the product with the highest price increase with a rise of 76.74 percent. Other products that saw price increases include dental treatment fees, janitor fees, intercity bus ticket prices, X-ray fees, laboratory analysis fees, green onions, and lettuce.
On the other hand, the shirt, which is in the men's clothing subgroup of clothing expenditures, became the product with the largest price decrease, showing a decline of 13.92 percent. Other products that showed a decrease included suits, jackets, oranges, coats, and hotel room accommodation fees.
