Hür-Sen President Levent Kuruoğlu: 'Millions of public employees have been deceived'

Hür-Sen Confederation President Levent Kuruoğlu said, “The decision made by the Public Officials Arbitration Board has dashed the expectations of millions of civil servants and retirees. The “we are withdrawing” theater staged by the authorized unions has clearly deceived public employees, and the process has once again been shaped under the shadow of a lack of will.”

Kuruoğlu included the following statements in the continuation of his remarks;

The Public Officials Arbitration Board has made its decision. Accordingly, the proposal for 2026 has remained unchanged, while the raise rate determined for 2027 has been increased by only 1 point to 5 percent.

This picture clearly shows that the statement by Memur-Sen and Türkiye Kamu-Sen that “we are withdrawing from the Arbitration Board” is a game from start to finish. If their withdrawal had prevented a decision from being made, they would have raised a ruckus. However, they are silent. Because they have neither the will nor any concern for the civil servant.

MILLIONS OF PUBLIC EMPLOYEES ARE BEING DECEIVED

The “we are withdrawing” theater has been staged, and millions of public employees have been deceived.

The collective bargaining table has once again turned into the government's stage, and the authorized unions have played the role of extras. Even the possibility of the raise rates being discussed in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has been eliminated, and the fate of civil servants and retirees has been sealed by the Arbitration Board.

Public employees expressed their most natural and legitimate demands during this process:

“Do not participate in the Arbitration Board, let the decision go to the TBMM. We are ready for any outcome; you should also struggle for a few more months and keep us on the agenda.”

But this voice was not heeded. Because the order from above is clear:

“Sit where you are!”

At the point we have reached today;

Civil servants and retirees have experienced the greatest loss in history,

Authorized unions have certified their lack of will,

Public employees have been clearly betrayed.

The burden placed on the back of the civil servant has become unbearable. We have millions of people whose psychology has been damaged and whose hope for the future has been broken. This theater, played for the sake of a 1 percent increase, is not just an economic loss, but also a loss of dignity.

This process is the joint responsibility not only of the government but also of those sitting at the table.

Memur-Sen and Türkiye Kamu-Sen have not only sold out the civil servant, but they have also obstructed the process.

There will be a price for this betrayal, and there must be!

The fact that those who lack the ability and will to make decisions continue to represent you is now the greatest threat to you. No union that is not free and lacks an independent will can defend your rights. This is why we, as HÜR-SEN, said “Freedom.” Because we know that without freedom, rights cannot be obtained, dignity cannot be protected, and the future cannot be built.

Those who are silent today will not be able to look civil servants in the face tomorrow. But we, as we were yesterday, are standing tall today and will be tomorrow. Because our only concern is not a seat, but the rights of our members.

The decision and the will are yours!

The dignity of the civil servant will not be left to fake games!
