Sharp reaction to public banks from IMM Urban Planning Group President Ali Kurt! 'Our legal struggle will continue'

IMM Urban Planning Group President and KİPTAŞ Board Chairman Ali Kurt expressed his reaction in a statement on his social media account, stating that public banks have not provided loans to KİPTAŞ or urban transformation projects since 2019. Kurt stated that despite correspondence with the senior management of the banks and calls for cooperation, they have not received a positive response.

In his statement, Ali Kurt criticized the public banks, saying, "Despite providing all the information and documents required by banking legislation and having high creditworthiness, public banks have not provided any loans to KİPTAŞ or citizens since 2019." He also stated that as KİPTAŞ, they had written various letters to public banks to provide financing for urban transformation projects and that they had received no response to these calls.

As KİPTAŞ, despite submitting all the information and documents required by banking legislation and having a high level of creditworthiness; Public Banks have not given us a single letter of guarantee or loan since 2019, nor have they extended a single cent of credit to citizens who would take on debt for urban transformation or buy homes from our social housing projects?? We called for cooperation with the senior management of three public banks through letters written by both KİPTAŞ and our IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, specifically regarding the provision of suitable loans to citizens for urban transformation.

For months, they did not provide a two-line response; they ignored us and acted as if we did not exist.

We recently applied to the BRSA (BDDK), requesting that they prevent the three relevant public banks from failing to perform their duties and ignoring the demands of our company, which meets all conditions, and the citizens, and that they take the necessary action as a superior board within the framework of the legislation.

In the response sent to us, the BRSA summarized that banks are institutions established for commercial purposes and that their own management determines who they will or will not provide loans to.

This time, all three banks wrote a two-line response under pressure from the BRSA, stating: We are doing what our legislation requires.

We want the entire public, especially our citizens waiting for solutions in risky buildings, to know that our legal struggle will continue against the Public Banks, which are shying away from a historical responsibility in producing solutions for risky structures in Istanbul.
