Increase in interest rates: Attention those with traffic fines, MTV debts, and fee arrears!

Presidential Decrees and the communiqué from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance's Revenue Administration have been published in the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, the late payment interest rate specified in the first paragraph of Article 51 of Law No. 6183 on the Procedure for the Collection of Public Receivables has been set at 4.5 percent, to be applied separately for each month. The rate in question was previously applied at 3.5 percent.

EFFECTIVE AS OF JUNE 1

On the other hand, it has been decided that the statutory interest rate regulated in the first article of Law No. 3095 on Statutory Interest and Default Interest will be applied at an annual rate of 24 percent, effective from June 1.

Furthermore, deferral interest rates have also been changed via the General Communiqué on Collection prepared by the Revenue Administration. With the communiqué, the deferral interest rate, which was applied at 36 percent annually, has been set at 48 percent.

An annual deferral interest rate of 48 percent will be applied to public receivables deferred based on applications made from today onwards.

For public receivables to be deferred based on applications made before the publication date of the communiqué, as well as for public receivables that were deferred before the publication date and are being paid in accordance with the deferral conditions, the old deferral interest rate will be applied from the date of application, provided they are paid in accordance with the deferral conditions.
